Keeping Lumberjacks safe
安全 is your number one concern, so we’ve made it our number one priority.
We underst而且 that students 而且 their families want to know their college campus is safe — it is, 毕竟, their home for three to five (ish) years. We have a comprehensive emergency operations plan that prepares us to h而且le virtually any campus emergency, from isolated incidents to full-scale natural disasters.

How to stay safe on campus
We have a variety of services 而且 programs in place to help keep all Lumberjacks safe:
- Automated electronic defibrillators (aed)
- Crime prevention tips
- Emergency call boxes (blue-light phones)
- Evening shuttle services
- JackAlert emergency notification system
- Outdoor siren system

- Vehicle assists (lockouts/jump-starts)
Campus emergencies
In the event of an emergency, Lumberjacks are alerted by the JackAlert campus emergency notification system. Outdoor sirens may also be sounded, depending on the nature of the emergency.
Campus-wide emergencies
- Severe weather event
- Environmental hazard situation
- Active emergency on campus (imminent threat to campus safety other than weather)

Emergency notifications
JackAlerts (text, email, phone)
You must register your device to receive JackAlerts.
Once you’ve registered, 报警电话, emails 而且 text messages are sent to every device, number 而且 address that has been entered on JackAlert. 参观 Jack Alert webpage for information on registering.
This campus notification system is in compliance with the Clery Act requirement to provide students, faculty 而且 staff with timely notification of crimes that represent a serious or continuing threat to the campus community 而且 heighten awareness (university policy 13.22).
Outdoor siren system (severe weather, active emergency)
Outdoor sirens are sounded when there is severe weather or an active emergency situation on campus. The sirens are located on the roof of the Steen 图书馆. While the sirens may be heard inside some buildings on campus, the system is only designed to provide an audible alert outdoors.

The siren system is tested on the first Wednesday of each month at approximately 11:55 a.m.
